Ex-wife Claims Actor Jeremy Renner Owes Child Support

North Carolina movie fans may be interested to learn that, on July 26, it was reported that actor Jeremy Renner’s ex-wife was unable to get the back child support that she was owed. According to associated court documents, the ex-wife claimed that he owed more than $48,000 in child support for their 3-year-old daughter.

The couple finalized their divorce in 2015 after less than one year of marriage. Renner and his ex-wife were granted joint custody of their child. He was also ordered to pay $13,000 a month in child support. However, his ex-wife claims that Jenner refused to pay for their child’s $1,600 per month tuition.

In a text message exchange, Renner reportedly wrote that he did not have any more money to give her. Additionally, a rep stated that the tuition was never part of the divorce decree. However, the ex-wife was asking the court to order that he pay the child support that he allegedly owed in addition to the child’s tuition.

Child custody and support disputes can be very difficult for parents. In many cases, the former couple may be granted joint custody if the court believes that this decision is what is best for the child. If an attorney provides evidence that one parent is abusive or did not care for the child when the couple was together, the other parent may seek primary or even sole physical custody. The attorney may also gather financial documents that can help the court determine how much child support the other parent may owe each month.
